On this weeks Chart, Ariana Grande continues her week 8th consecutive at #1, Monica debuts at #1 on both the Albums and Singles charts with "The Boy Is Mine"; this ends Ariana Grandes 8 consecutive weeks all-killing record. Early on Monica's singles "For You I Will" and "Angel of Mine" were headed for a top 5 debut with projections putting "Angel of Mine" at #1, instead "For You I Will" has debuted #1 becoming her first #1 debut and only #1 to date; she has seen the top 3 with her single "Commitment" but the song only spent 3 weeks on the chart. "Drivers Licenses" by Olivia Rodrigo is at #3 with a late start to the chart due to it not gaining any traction until Tuesday, "The First Night" by Monica has debuted at #4 with "Streets" by Doja Cat at #5 and "Good Days" by SZA following closely at #6. For the first time in 9 weeks Ariana Grande is missing from the top 5, could this mean she wont get her Spotlight award and the successful run of the "positions" era is over?
Album wise "The Boy Is Mine" by Monica found itself debuting at #1 becoming Monica's first #1 Album and the 17th biggest sales week of all time and the #1 biggest debut doubling Pop Smokes previous record of 86k, she had moderate album chart success with her "Commitment-single" and her debut Album "Miss Thang" which debuted at #3 charting well on the 2020 YEC but nothing as impressive as a #1. The album replaces Ariana Grande's "positions" ending its 8 week #1 run which set a record for longest consecutive stay at #1 and set the record for most weeks at #1; this is also the albums first week not selling 1 million copies (or having 166 plays). Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license-Single" becomes the largest debut for a single on the albums chart and also matches "Said Sum Remix" record for highest peaking single on the albums chart. Also Mariah Careys debut album "Mariah Carey" has left the top 10 after staying there for 20 weeks; it may return though.
